Not the weather for Kite Flying ....

One day in June, my husband decided he wanted to go Kite flying, with his new kite. On this particular day, where we live there was not a whisper of breeze, it was so still. He thought to himself, lets drive to one of highest points near to us....

you couldn't hear any movement...his kite flying was not to be!!! We drove to the Ridgeway National Trail and had a gentle stroll instead!!

He wanted to go and see an old fort site...but couldn't find a way in through the trees you see to his right!

Another wonderful surprise ...

came through my letter box today, this time from my great friend Sally in Norfolk.

Sally has just returned from a fabulous trip to Peru, with her boyfriend look at her blog and read about their fantastic trip and her photos, they are truly amazing.... Sally and I talked about going to the Peru and the Inca trail, about 5 years ago, obviously we never went, and when Geoff suggested it, Sally was over the moon, a much longed for trip!!

One thing you must read is about their, what I would call terrifying Bike ride...The road of Death bike ride!! The name just says it all. Sally takes on any challenge, and succeeds. So well done :-)

The little icon is I believe is an Inca Man, and I know there is a story behind them, but I am unable to find it. Hopefully Sally will let me know and I can add a link.

Thank you so much Sally, it was a lovely surprise, and I am so pleased you had a fantastic time.!!

A Postcard Surprise.....

Another wonderful postcard has been posted through my letterbox ...and a huge surprise it was too!! My card came from Pickering , Ontario, Canada, from a lovely lady called Lucy, who's fabulous blog is On my way 2 work and other stuff.

The picture on the card is Port Perry and if you google it, you will see that on the 9th August, they have a Classic British Motorshow..Called Brits on the Lake..!! I wonder if Lucy knows or knew about this !! Seems like a brilliant day out.

Lucy and I met through a post on her blog, but can I find I can't, so hopefully Lucy will and pass it over to me.. ..

Lucy has friends that own/run Moo-Moo's Milkshake/smoothie bar in the covered market of Oxford.... I know that I commented, and from there, I actually went and gave her friends a message from Lucy, it turned out that her friends computer had broken, and so weren't receiving her emails...

Can you picture the scene..

"Excuse me, erm I have a blog, and somehow your friend Lucy in Canada found my blog or I found hers, and she would like me to give you a cool is that"

Thank you so much Lucy, made my day ..I do hope that some of you call over to visit her!! Lucy is such a fun person, I know you will enjoy her blog. You can also follow her on Twitter!!!

Paris and Montmartre.....

When Caroline and I were in Paris in April, we covered a lot of ground in our 5 and half days, Bateaux Mouche with Dawn and Leesa, walk along the Seine on our first evening, Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, The Louvre, seeking out places in the Marais area, going to Montparnasse for meal with Leesa, having lunch with our blogger/expat friends, going to the suburbs to meet our friend Barbara, meeting up with Leesa, Andrea and Opal, a quick walk around Jardin du Luxembourg, going to the churches,a walk through a Cemetery, trip to Marais at night, and a few meals out in our local restaurant in the evenings! ...OH yes looking at the shops, walking Rue de Rivoli, to meet Leesa, visiting markets, Champs Elysees at night!

To add to all of this, we went back to Montmartre a second time.. not to go to the Sacre Coeur, but to walk around the shops and to visit the Artists Square which is brilliant, amazing to see them all there, painting in their different styles. Some do try and get you to have your portrait done, so have to be careful of the hasslers, a polite no thank you, worked for us!

Phew how did we do all that and sleep, eat and have cafe breaks !! Well we did, and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip, thanks to Leesa, Dawn, Barbara, Kim B, Carolyn, Elizabeth, Andrea, and everyone else we met, who made us feel so welcome. I cannot thank Leesa enough, for first of all inviting us, and secondly meeting us at Gare du Nord with Dawn, and being there for us all the week.

People will gather in Rome Piazza protest of a proposed bill on the Italian books which will limit the freedom of speech as it pertains to online voices within the Italian Internet...bloggers, twitterers (is that a word?), social network posters, etc. Thousands are expected to fill the piazza against this proposal wearing gags around their mouths.

A Fun day out in Oxford…..

Caroline and I had a really great day out at the Botanic Gardens in Oxford.

We were amazed by the plants grown, the different Cacti, the Palms and such

a wide variety of really exotic and the unusual..

I would say well worth the £3 pounds and you can stay in there as long as you like, just a lovely place to relax.
