A Climb to the top of the Sacre Coeur Dome......

Well Worn Stairs

provides an excellent view of Paris - at 271 feet above Montmartre Hill it is the second-highest viewpoint after the Eiffel Tower - and the walk around the inside of the dome alone is worth the climb.

The Dome is 83 meters high and is open to the public by way of a narrow stairway of some 234 steps. . At the top, you are treated to a spectacular panorama of Paris. On a clear day, you can see nearly 20 miles.

These are views from all different angles and different areas of the walk up.

I really hope that you enjoy these photos, and that you can one day make that walk up!!

  1. I love Mont Martre and your photos are wonderful! I always find that its scarier to walk down those type of steps rather than up them.

  3. Hello Anne,

It goes to show you, one can never see everything ! I have never been in the dome, though I've been a few times to Montmartre.

I got to go up one day !
    Hugs xx

  7. It is the most fabulous view Anne - but I am not that keen on the climb....a little bit claustrophobic is me! xv

  9. I was just reading on another blog about Paris! We must go there again soon.

I couldn't do those steps! I quickly get panicky when going round and round, but well done to you for doing it. And well worth it I think.

  15. Anne, Thanks for sharing your great photos. I am always happy to have Peter's nice readers visit my blog as well. He and I made it to the top along with our much younger blog friends!HA I especially liked your well worn steps. I was to intent on climbing to photograph them and had intended to ask Peter if he got some shots of them. Please visit often!
