Not the weather for Kite Flying ....
you couldn't hear any movement...his kite flying was not to be!!! We drove to the Ridgeway National Trail and had a gentle stroll instead!!
He wanted to go and see an old fort site...but couldn't find a way in through the trees you see to his right!

My Birthday Lunch...
We managed to get a table outside, it was very peaceful and not too hot, which was very good. Hubby was pleased that I had wanted to go here.
They did a Fixed Prix menu either £9 or £12..and you could add a glass of wine for £3..so worth it.
We had
Bruschetta
Calamari
Penne Alla Luganica
Trofie Al Pesto
It was delicious, so tasty and fresh, and great ingredients from Italy..Inside in the shop they had everything from Pesto, Olive Oils, to Chocolate and cakes. All from Liguria, Calabria, and Puglia..and other regions.
Oh and to make the lunch even better, ( I know I was with hubby) it was all served to us by ...
a lovely waiter who is from Florence
It is not often that my husband is at home and not at work. He works for Williams F1 team so is normally either travelling around, or at the factory getting his computer stuff ready for the next race!! Up until a few years, they would of been in Canada, on that date, but they do not race there anymore, and on June 11th 2006, The British GrandPrix was moved to that date..so I had a super day, with a Grandstand upgrade.

Christmas Present to my hubby......
I painted it a few weeks ago with the help of a local artist, Beryl Maile. Last month, my friend Sarah from the Funky Teapot Ceramic shop, held a fundraising day for an orphange in Thailand. Beryl charged £5 to do a painting, providing the card, and all the oil paints, we didn't have time to do one that day, so she kindly came to my friends shop, with all her equipment. I was amazed how well it looked, and got it framed.

Birthday Meal in Colletta .....

Now we could not of got a restaurant closer to us!! If you look at the picture above, you will see a little red door in the top left, up the steps, that is our apartment, and you will see the door on the right --- that was our restaurant, how brilliant is that.!!
The first meal we had was a "meat" feast, my husband loves his meat, I don't mind, but thought maybe fish this time. So I spoke to Dianos who was the barman, he spoke english quite well, and in turn he spoke to the chef Giorgio..all understood, very good. They also asked if I would like a special cake/tart, fine I said. Grazie, Arrivederci.
The evening of the 20th arrived, and we made our way down ..Ordered some wine, and chatted for a while. Whilst chatting though Dianos kept appearing with small containers with fish..you name it, small shrimps, huge prawns, crayfish, mullet, squid..A fantastic choice. Giorgio had gone out that afternoon, and bought the freshiest fish I have every seen..he was only feeding us!! We were amazed, even hubby decided to have fish as well. We were not disappointed, never had such a meal.

The plate on the bottom right is Mullet with Artichokes..(Carciofi in Italian)
Here is the tart that Girgio made a few hours before our meal..just for us!

A fantastic birthday meal and one we will never forget!

Museum of the History of Science Oxford

I went to Blackwells bookshop just across the road. . Much more my thing, but you have to a little bit of give and take! We then met up again and went for a drink in The White Horse, in Broad street, after a lovely glass of wine, we treated ourselves to a meal at Jamie Olivers restaurant, it was fantastic..sorry no photos, just believe me it was brilliant.

Raf Benson Families Day
This invitation came through the Williams F1 team, who had been invited to attend by the Station Commander. Unfortunately Sir Frank Williams could not attend, but those on the team wishing to do so went along.
Williams F1 had kindly provided one of their cars for display along with the Rolls Royce, Jaguar and Ferrari Owners Clubs.

We were also treated to a superb display by the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team . They were brilliant.

And lastly a Royal Air Force Air Display would not be complete without the fantastic RAF Red Arrows Team. I have seen them so many times but they never fail to amaze me.!!!

Very nostalgic and fantastic day had by both of us!!
