Finished and Fired ..............

Even though I say so myself ...

I absolutely am over the moon
with the finished and fired jug,,

Believe me , when I saw it today,
I thought

"Did I really paint that"

No drawing , just straight on with the paint.

Is it wrong to love your own work so much??

I think it looks like a meadow!

Ceramics and my latest piece of Artwork ,,

For 10 days in July,
my great friend Sarah
was away on holiday and
asked me to help run her
ceramic shop  The Funky Teapot .

The first week I had
a lovely young girl with me
(on work experience)
and in the quieter times
we did a little bit of painting ourselves.

This is my piece ...

NOT FIRED YET ...

As you can see the colours look good but dull.
After this has dried properly , the jug is glazed
and then fired in the kiln , and it goes all shiny .

Tomorrow or Friday you will see the results ♥♥

I know I am meant to be doing our trip
I will get it done, but with grandchildren coming
helping my friend , finding it hard to concentrate
with my blog , our holiday seems such a long
time ago and when I look at the photos,
I long to be back there..

You will see the photos ♥

Ceramics ,, My next piece of work ...

Not finished yet ,,

but just wanted to give
you a glimpse of it
before I finish it.

I used stickers for this bowl
which I don't normally,,
and you can see the outline
in white.
The bowl is painted in
a pale blue and pale green
so I have decided to paint the
white in black..  I will show you
the finished bowl after
it is finished and has been
fired !!

Ceramic Painting .....

Every now and then,
I help my friend Sarah,
in her Ceramic shop
and I get a chance to do some painting.

I like to make up designs,  I have an image in my
head, and just go for it and sometimes
I see a design in a magazine and just adapt it,
but keeping the colours the same if I can.

In the last two weeks I have painted two

(this one was just a play with colours
I saw a picture in a magazine )

(The children will love this one :-)
It does look good in real life!

small side plates ..

This one was hand drawn with paint straight on and then painted.

I have white plates normally but these will get used,
I intend to paint a few more !!

My latest Ceramic Art work ....A commission for my Mum-in-law!!

A few weeks ago
my mother-in-law asked me,
if I could design 3 tiles
for her,
to go above her sink
in her bathroom.

They had to be of a
particular design - The Hogweed!

The link above is a stencil,
but mine were done freehand and with
nothing to copy .. !! Just the design
I had in my head , and she wanted them done
in a dark Blue.

She LOVED THEM, and I am over the moon!!

What do you think???

Our artist Aidan .. and his ceramic painting.

As it is Halloween
I thought I would show you
our artist at work.

Aidan is our eldest grandson
and he loves to paint.

Whilst I was visiting him in Cupar
(yes I have more blogging to do)
We went out for a few hours
to the local Ceramic shop/cafe/play area.

I had intended the trip to be for him to make
something for himself .. BUT he is so caring
he made it for me.
He said to me "Nanny I have a present for you,
but I cannot give it to you yet"
Ok I said.
We went back to collect his artwork and he turned
to me and said "this is for you Nanny!
Now it is on my windowsill!!

LOVE IT.. Thank you Aidan, xxxx

A little bit of art work ......

A few months ago
I bought some wrapping paper
which I loved and thought , mmmm
maybe I could paint that onto ceramics.

It was all handpainted straight on to the bowl and mug,
normally would draw it on first . .. it took me a while
though .. about a week!!

Thought we would have a littlebreak from Italy,
but I still have lots more of that trip to come!!!

Muswell Hill, North London...Part 1...

I go to London quite a bit, to visit my mother-in-law. While I am there I try to get to Muswell Hill to browse around, have a coffee, look at all the little individual shops, of which there are quite a few! Sometimes I am there hours!

A few weeks ago I picked up a copy of Woman and Home February issue, and came across an article about a new Tearoom and Gift shop in Fortis Green, Muswell Hill.. I thought "where is it" I want to go. Of course my mother-in-law pointed me in the right direction and so off I went on the bus. And there it was..Emporium - Tearoom and Fancy Goods. First Impression .."Delightful".

I had a look round first and then spoke to a lovely lady in the gift shop side, explained that I would like to take some photos to put on my blog! They were intrigued about Blogging!

It is a wonderful place to have coffee, a bite to eat and chat with friends or as I did, sat in the cosy corner!

The next day, my mother-in-law told me about a new Ceramic shop, not far from her, so I thought I would walk up there to have look. The shop is in Alexandra Park Road and is Called ZEBRA!! It is so great to look at, so inviting, with the coffee corner too! Had a look around, a coffee and a chat to one of the owners, lovely lady named Andrea..

A DELIGHTFUL place for Painting, fun, coffee and Cake!

Very relaxing way to spend a few hours!!

I have been doing Ceramics for quite a few years now, started in Wales where I used to attend a club at Raf St Athan, learnt how to make the items and paint etc and then became one of the session tutors, and now I visit my friends shop in Wantage, The Funky Teapot. So we had a lot to talk about, all very interesting, how they (her and friend Rachel) started out! The amazing thing I found out was that Andrea used to live in Oxford and work in a place called Harwell, not far from me. A small world!

Definitely Going Back!

My Ceramics

Since moving down to Grove, I have started doing ceramics again. Here are some examples of my work.

My friend has a lovely shop, where we can just pop into paint, or just for coffee.

Excellent ideas for birthdays, christenings, weddings and of course, christmas presents!!!.
