Zagreb is a city with a rich history
dating from the Roman times to the present day. The oldest settlement in the urban area of the city is Andautonia, a Roman settlement in the place of today's Ščitarjevo. The name "Zagreb" is mentioned for the first time in 1094 at the founding of the Zagreb diocese of Kaptol, and Zagreb became a free royal town in 1242, whereas the origin of the name still remains a mystery in spite of several theories.
Zagreb is also called a city of museums as there are more of them per square foot than any other city in the world. But this doesn’t mean that there is nothing else for you to do if you aren’t a history buff.
One of the many pleasures that the Zagrebcani (the locals)
enjoy is sitting in one of the numerous cafes watching the world go by.
We all love to sit and people watch ♥
I think I will have to
SPREAD MY WINGS
and see other fabulous places you
all visit.

yeah it arrived. You should be getting another one from Slovenia. That is funny as I mailed this one last. Postcards are funny-I mailed so many and not one has arrived. My husband sent a few and his dada has received his.

DeleteHi Anne,
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing?
It's nice to be back with blogs and blogging.?i am always fascinated to see the cards from around the world to your house.
I think that it's great!! I personally don't know Zagreb. I would be very content with a few museums, walks and people watching.
Take care and see you on the blogs soon.
Zagreb looks like a fascinating place Anne :-)
ReplyDeleteIf you let me know your address, I would love to send you postcards when I am on my travels. My most recent travels took me to Slovenia which borders next to Croatia. We had and wonderful time and I am slowly making my way through the photographs that I took on my travels there...
