French Cheeses

Last night, I was invited round to a friends for normal wednesday night get-together, and we were just going to have a light snack with wine. My friend and her husband have just returned from France, and they treated us to some lovely cheeses. I took along some crackers, parma ham, chorizo and some lovely little cherry tomatoes. We had a great time, chatting, drinking and eating..

Oh how could I forget these...

UPDATE:- Photo sent, it is the top one!!

American Foods

Now this might not interest a lot of my readers, but maybe my American blogging friends.

On Friday I went to Cambridge to visit my brother. He lives on the outskirts in Haslingfield and just before you get there, you have to go through Barton, where my brother always stops at the Q8 petrol station for milk, ciggies etc on his way home. This place also has a huge range of food items. Well it was so amazing, it had so many American foods in there, well, for a garage shop in an English village it did have!!! Baking, Cookies, Jello, and maybe more that I didn;t see!!! Now I am sorry I didn;t take a photo but I can remember some of the things. My brother and I took a long time to look round...sad I know, just interesting!!!

UPDATE - I have always known that we have two American bases in Suffolk, which is not far from Cambridge. And more importantly we have the American Cemetery in Madingley not far from my brothers, but I never knew that Duxford, was a base for the Americans and is home to the American Air Museum., I always thought it was just the Royal Air Force.

Maybe there are a lot of Americans still living in the area, and hence, the American food in the garage!!!!

I should really do more research before posting, to save any confusion...this post was prompted because Justin , put on Twitter, that he was having Kraft Mac and Cheese for his dinner!!!!!!!

Raf Benson Families Day

Last Thursday August 7th we were so happy to be invited to Raf Benson Families Day. This was quite special to us, as this is where we both used to live. I spent 8 years there, lots of memories, great friends, and quite honestly the best place I lived whilst connected with the Air Force. My husband was there 10 years and I know he would say the same. Very strange as well, walking past where I used to live, where I used to work, shop, the boys school, the old hairdressers, yes its still up and running.!!! And last but not least our old drinking ground, where we used to join our friends for a drink or two!!! We left there in 1992, have been back to the area before, but not really back on to the camp.

This invitation came through the Williams F1 team, who had been invited to attend by the Station Commander. Unfortunately Sir Frank Williams could not attend, but those on the team wishing to do so went along.

Williams F1 had kindly provided one of their cars for display along with the Rolls Royce, Jaguar and Ferrari Owners Clubs.

We were also treated to a superb display by the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team . They were brilliant.

And lastly a Royal Air Force Air Display would not be complete without the fantastic RAF Red Arrows Team. I have seen them so many times but they never fail to amaze me.!!!

Very nostalgic and fantastic day had by both of us!!

Do you live in the Past Present or Future???

Saw this on Sally in Norfolks blog...just had to do it!!!

You Live in the Present

You take things one day at a time.

And it turns out, that's a pretty great way to live.

You aren't consumed by the past, and you're aren't obsessed with the future.

You live in the now, and you enjoy each moment.

While most people don't live in the present enough, make sure you don't live in it too much.

It would be a mistake to forget your past or neglect to plan for the future.

If you want to give it a try here is the link.

Butterflies

Leslie who's blog is The Pedalogue..did a great post about visiting a Butterfly Farm, which prompted me to show some photos of our trip to Stratford Upon Avon, way back in 2006. We visted the Butterfly Farm there and it was amazing..They also had Insect City, Arachnoland and the Caterpillar room.
