Castello di Miramare in the Gulf of Trieste Italy

When on holiday in April 2011
my cousins took me all over the wonderful
area where they live, Friuli Venezia Giuli,
most North-Eastern Region of Italy.

We went to Miramare Castle....
19th-century castle on the Gulf of Trieste near Trieste, northeastern Italy. It was built from 1856 to 1860 for Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium, later Emperor Maximilian I and Empress Carlota of Mexico, based on a design by Carl Junker.

The castle's grounds include an extensive cliff and seashore park of 22 hectares (54 acres) designed by the archduke. The grounds were completely re-landscaped to feature numerous tropical species of trees and plants.

Please CLICK on first photo and they will enlarge.
We couldn't get really close as there
were renovations going on, but the gardens
and views are beautiful.

Top right in photo below  is my cousin Valerie and me ..
Centre right is Gianni (Vals husband and me) .

We had to drive through here first, strange because we never
see these in the UK ... !!

Blogging Friendship and my postcard collection …

You have been away …
Coming home in the rain,
Suitcase handle breaks so you cannot pull
it anymore, luckily it happened right
at the front door!!!!
You open your door, and what do you
see amongst your post????
A handwritten envelope, wondering what is
in it …??

Yes a beautiful card to cheer you up :-)
This lovely card is from my dear friend
Di, AKA Trubes.  She never forgets me when
she has been away , a very
thoughtful and caring lady, a dear
Blogging friend.
Di and her husband Ian have been on
a trip to Anglesey ( which they love) and the
view on the card is of Moelfre a coastal
village on the Isle of Anglesey.
Big big thank you to  Di :-)
Also like to say a big thank you to everyone
for their recent comments .. so great to see.

A wonderful award…

My  good friend Barbara from Paris
whose brilliant blog is
Please go over and have a read
and a look at Barbara’s fabulous photos!
Awarded me this ……
wpid-one-love-blog-award-two1
Thank you my dear friend…
I have to award this to 15 bloggers!! Yikes that is hard to do,
I cannot do it !!
The first 15 to comment it is awarded to you!  I follow on a regular basis, so many fabulous blogs, I cannot choose!
♥♥♥♥♥
I also have to tell you 7 things about myself that you do not know.(this is hard too!)
1…….I was born in Northern Ireland , but I have half Irish (mums side) and half Maltese from my dads side.  With a sprinkling of English and Scottish. I am British! I could be Irish if I wanted to , BUT there again I could apply (I believe) to me Maltese!
2……I disliked school and to be honest wasn’t the best pupil in the world ..ha ha , (hope my grandchildren don’t take after me)
3…….I try to keep my bedroom tidy, but it always ends up looking like I am an untidy teenager :-)
4……..I need to find  a job , to fulfil my travel dreams, I never knew I wanted to travel so much ..
5….. I had my first child at the age of 18, and my  2nd at the age of 26.. .I wonder how many of you know my age LOL .. also have 4 grandchildren and one on the way!
6….. I took my first flight alone in June 2010 to Montreal, I was fine, just didn’t like having no one else to talk too. I was sat next to one young man who put his heads phones ASAP, so I just watched films.
7….. I travelled to Paris in August 2009 and CAT sat for two weeks, I stayed in the apartment on my own in the 7th arrondissement  .. I had only met Elizabeth  for a few hours back in April , and met the husband that evening and off they went on their cruise two days later!!! But I did have my new blogger  friends in the City and suburbs!!

Leslie took loads of photos , so I am sure
once she is back home and settled, they will be up
on her blog!! She is a great writer, and her photos
are fab!

But in the meantime, we met and went for coffee, in
Cafe Nero (my fav) and then when we left I changed my route
and so glad I did .. I found a new place to look around
and even purchase gifts!!
Oxford Old Fires Station has been turned
into …
Crisis Skylight, offering a Cafe, Art Gallery and a
beautiful gift shop …
Crisis is the National  Charity
for single homeless people.
