The Book - Petite Anglaise.

Well I have read the book, and found it rather fasinating. I felt as though I really knew these people. Now without giving much away, wouldn;t like to spoil it for others, who are about to read it, or trying not to upset Catherine, I really felt for Mr Frog. I understand Catherines emotions and what she was going through at the time, can understand why they did split up. I think they both just lost their way and their path became divided. She couldn;t understand why he didn;t see or feel their problems, or maybe he did and just couldn;t or didn;t want to talk about what was troubling him. So when she did meet the next man (James) who gave her all his attention and made her feel like a woman again, she fell for him in a big way. Personally I don;t think she did love him, maybe I am wrong, I think she loved the attention, making her feel good, the excitement of going away with him, all the things that go with a love affair. All the feelings that had been lost with Mr Frog.

I am not going to tell you anymore....you will have to buy the book. It would be interesting to read what you all think.

I feel as though there should be a follow on book...Hope so.

  2. Hi Anne

I'm glad Mr Frog's side of things comes through well, that was my intention. I wanted to show what happens when a relationship unravels, with no blame on either party and I do say myself that afterwards, I was more in love with the idea of being wanted than with the person involved.

My next project isn't petite anglaise II, but in many ways, even though it's a novel, it will read like a what happened next as it is concerned with a single mum trying to find her way in the Parisian dating scene, struggling to deal with people's perceptions of how she should behave.

Wish I had time to work on it right now ;-)

  3. It sounds very readable, and the follow-up book sounds great too. And how nice of Petite Anglaise to post a comment on your site.

  4. Actually it's funny what you say about Mr Frog, I think he does come across as sympathetic..but only before and after the break up. I think he did really take PA for granted, and I'm not sure I have a lot of sympathy for workaholics..but I think afterwards he seemed to realise what he'd lost, or at least I hope so. James was a character I didn't like at all (or is that because I prefer French men to English?). The new book sounds interesting, I already look forward to it.

  12. Hello Anne, just stumbled in here from somewhere else- doing some blog rambling! I like your blog and will be back. I love Italy too!
I enjoyed your perceptions on the Petite book, I have just finished it, having read the entire blog "cover to cover" previously. I enjoyed it alot, found it painfully honest at times, and above all, very insightful and pertinent on the subject of blogging. It's a compulsion all of us obviously share (although I'm very new to it!) and Petite describes the ups and downs and ultimate consequences of sharing your life, very succinctly.
    All the best,

    Marianne
