I am..............

a Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Niece, Aunty, Wife, Mother, Nan, Sister-in-law, Daughter-in-law and a Mother-in-law....

And what do you think is the hardest role? Let me tell you, it is the last one. Mother-in-law. Especially if you had only sons. And what are you if they only live together?

Oh yes you have to control your tongue sometimes, for fear of upsetting the apple cart, you have to resist the urge to interfere. Here is a Mother-in-laws Do's and Don'ts.......I should of read this years ago...no wonder I have it all wrong. I should of read the rules!!!!!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha :-)

And here is a set of the other rules, How to be a good Daughter-in-law. I didn't need these, my mother-in-law and I get on brilliantly. :-)

  3. Lucky you Anne, I am married to an only child too, but I do try and see things from her eyes too, and I have given her two great grandsons too.

  4. I only have daughters but I am mother-in-law to one's husband. He loves me and always is the one to want to come over. We've even done coffee together many many times. He's a wonderful man and is absolutely devoted to my daughter and their children.

  5. I have two daughters in law and we all seem to get along really well. Sometimes I wonder what in the world they are thinking but, mostly, I consider them good friends. Of course, I keep my mouth shut about everything unless I think it is really great.

  6. I am mother-in-common-law to my son's live-in girlfriend. All I want is to love her as a daughter but I sense it isn't what she's looking for as she already has a perfectly good mother of her own.
I am also step-mum to two grown-up children of my husband's. They have children of their own, our grandchildren, though in truth, not my own grandchildren.
This Christmas past, we were sent a card To Wonderful Parents - from my stepson and his new wife. It meant the world to me...for he too still has a perfectly good mother (my husband's previous wife of many years ago).
I'll read those rules now, Anne. Thanks for that.

  11. My mom has told me that "it is just different with a girl". She can say things to me that she feels she can't say to my brother (maybe because I don't get mad often).

My husband is older than me and his mother was old when she had him. This means that my mother-in-law is almost 94 years old! Needless to say, we don't have the "normal" type of mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship.

    Best of luck!

  12. Hi Cynthia thanks for dropping by. You definetly don;t have the "normal" relationship, but I am sure it is a lovely one.

I didn't think this post would be much interest, I was only voicing how I felt on the day!!!!!

I must learn to keep my mouth shut!!! :-)

Thank you to everyone for your comments.
